With a bit of cold spell on Monday, we didn't quite hit our target of 60 miles this week, but we aren't too concerned as it was still an increase from last week's mileage. With only about 2 months until Rock the Parkway, it's time to start adding workouts into the mix, and what a great weekend for it. Saturday morning we jogged down the hill to the South Creek Trail for a fast (but short) tempo run. It was a little breezy, but warm enough to break out the shorts for both the workout and long run on Sunday! Not bad for February.


Saturday workout:
2+ w/u
Goal: 3 miles @ sub 18:00 (but hopefully sub 17:45)
Actual: 3 miles @ 17:28 (5:49 average)

After last week's measly 2 mile tempo, I was really hoping to bounce back with a stellar 3 miles tempo. Last week was our first time in about 3 months (since Bass Pro) to even attempt anything sub marathon pace (hopefully closer to half marathon pace). Boy was it a shock to the body! Never had 2 miles felt so long ;)

For the three mile tempo, we opened up with a 5:49 and I was hoping we didn't start out too ambitious. Thankfully, no, and we even closed with a 5:45. Which is right at half marathon pace and just a hair faster!
